Job description

We are looking for a Controller¸ reporting to the President of the company and whose main responsibilities will be to plan, organize, direct, and control the accounting, budgetary and financial activities of the company as well as completing all business and legal tasks related to project timelines, costs, and quality requirements and supervising accounting department employees.

As a member of the management committee, you will have to work closely with the various members of the management team.

Experience and Competencies

  • Carry out and review month-end closings, prepare monthly financial statements and explain budget variances;
  • Supervise accounts payable, invoicing, accounts receivable and payroll processing on the system;
  • Ensure rigorous monitoring of inventories and ensure that they are correctly recorded and evaluated in the financial system;
  • Ensure optimal management of cash and currencies;
  • Take charge of the cost management process;
  • Prepare, analyze and reconcile government remittances (DAS and GST/TVQ/HST);
  • Produce the various internal and external financial reports;
  • Take charge of and monitor the budget process;
  • Support managers in setting up and monitoring their budget;
  • Supervise the preparation of the external audit file and act as a resource person within the annual audit process;
  • Prepare various tax reports and SR&ED credits;
  • Support managers in the implementation of special projects, including the search for financing and available financial aid;
  • Establish and monitor internal control procedures;
  • Collaborate in the development of decision support tools and performance indicators;
  • Lead the project to acquire and implement the accounting system (ERP) and ensure optimal management thereafter.

Aptitudes

  • Hold an accounting title (CPA) or in the process of obtaining it;
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in an equivalent position in the manufacturing sector;
  • Advanced knowledge in cost management;
  • Ability to solve problems and quickly understand various questions and issues;
  • Ability to work in an environment experiencing strong growth and continuous improvement;
  • Knowledge of accounting principles;
  • Knowledge of financial reporting;
  • Advanced mastery of MS Excel and ability to use integrated management systems and dashboards (Power BI for example);
  • Experience in selecting and implementing an ERP an asset;
  • Experience in dealing with banks/investors an asset;
  • Team spirit and collaboration skills;
  • Open mind, motivation, proactive work style and ability to work independently;
  • Ability to manage an accounting department and the constraints associated with it;
  • Performs their work with rigor and precision;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English;
  • Bilingualism (French and English).
