Are Prolite trailers solid?
Yes, Prolite trailers are solid.
Contrary to what one might think, the lightness of a product does not equal to a lower durability. Nowadays, vehicles are built with increasingly lightweight products to improve fuel economy, mobility, and driving efficiency. Take, for instance, the steel parts used in cars and aircraft, which are often replaced by titanium, or the wood parts of boat hulls and hockey sticks, which are also replaced by fiberglass.
New products are increasingly strong despite their very light weight. Too often people make the mistake of believing that “the heavier it is, the stronger it is.”
Below is one of our trailers that was damaged in a collision with a Toyota 4Runner SUV. The 4Runner was going at 50 km/h while the trailer was stopped on the highway. The trailer hitch was shoved entirely underneath the towing vehicle, yet the only real damage to the trailer is at the rear. Considering the force of the impact, the amount of damage inflicted is minimal.
