In order for your trailer to accompany you on your adventures for many years to come and also to maximize its resale value, you must pamper it all year long! Much more than its age, the general condition of the trailer will have a determining impact on its longevity.

Here are some tips to help you maximize the resale value of your trailer.

Meticulously check the exterior joints of your trailer

Every time you move your trailer, it’s as if it undergoes a mini earthquake. That’s why it’s essential to perform a meticulous inspection of the exterior joints (in purple on the images below) every six months, especially the roof joints (in blue). If they are damaged or stained, or if parts are missing, they must be redone.

Be diligent with seasonal maintenance

Not surprisingly, a good fall and spring maintenance is essential to keep your trailer in good condition and prevent premature wear and tear. If you travel long distances, it may be appropriate to perform mid-season maintenance as well.

Pay special attention to the plumbing, if your trailer has it, by making sure there are no cracks, especially in the fittings, and clean the tanks regularly. Make sure all electrical appliances are in good working order, as this will certainly affect the resale price. To prevent mold, avoid indoor condensation by maintaining a comfortable temperature with heating and air conditioning.

Maintain the appearance of your trailer

A maintained trailer is your best asset to make a good first impression with potential buyers. Use mild cleaners that will not abrade or discolor interior surfaces or decals. Eliminate traces of rust, lubricate doors and replace joints as soon as they start to dry. Clean windows and sweep floors so that everything shines!

Storing your trailer for Winter

Ideally, to protect your trailer from the weather and the frost during winter, we recommend storing it in a heated area during the winter. If this is not possible, be sure to perform a thorough winterization of your trailer to protect all of the components.

By following these tips, you will help extend the life of your trailer and maximize its resale value.
